What do diversity, equity and inclusion mean to me?
Diversity means that my classroom is a collection of unique individuals, with every student having different strengths, likes and dislikes. Diversity can also relate to physical appearance, sexual identity and orientation, and religion.
Equity means that my future classroom is fair, in the way that my students all have equal opportunity and the help to maintain that equal opportunity. I will be offering many resources and strategies to help students with equal fairness.
Inclusion means that my students feel valued, not only by myself but also by their peers and other school colleagues. I hope to understand the needs of each student in my classroom.
My goal is to be inclusive and to create an inclusive classroom. This is possible by having a diverse classroom because each student is unique. To make this process possible, it needs to be equitable.
